When a child is younger they all look forward to that special day that comes once a year, not Christmas but their birthday. This is the one special day that they are made to feel extra special, and kids absolutely love throwing a party, in fact many adults will be able to remember at least a few of the birthday parties that they had attended.
There are a number of decisions you will have to make however when throwing kids parties, especially if the people expected to come are very young.
The first thing you need to do is select the correct venue for your child’s party. Many people opt to throw the parties at their own house, however consider the amount of children you have attending and how much space you have. You should be able to find a cheap community hall in the area to rent for your party, you will have much more space and there is a lot less chance of something being broken by running and screaming children. Alternatively you can opt to throw a party at a restaurant, in fact many family friendly restaurants offer a party service so it is worth consulting with them. If you do opt to have your party in a restaurant your food will be included in the cost as well as any entertainment.
The next stage of throwing kids parties is to choose exactly who to invite. I suggest inviting everybody in your child’s class as well as a few adults to help keep an eye on the child. I do not suggest letting your child choose the people to invite from their class unless it will just be a small party with 2 or 3 people. The reason for this is that they may leave somebody out for a stupid reason, which will cause the left out child to be hurt if they discover kids parties are being thrown without them. Next step is to hand out invitations or just get in touch with the invited child’s parents.
You will also need to plan the activities for your kids party. Many people opt to hire an external entertainer such as a clown or face painter. However you are perfectly capable of making your own entertainment for your kids parties. Why not play games of ‘Pass the Parcel’ or ‘Musical Statues’? Just throw on a good bit of music and the children will mingle and create their own entertainment.
You now need to decide on the most important part of a kids party; the food. I suggest opting for a buffet style meal as many children do seem to prefer this type. Also make sure you have enough food to cater for every taste bud. A few potato chips and sandwiches should be fine, although don’t forget to cater for the vegetarians.
If kids parties are planned perfectly it will be one of the happiest times of your child’s life, and you will be so happy when you see that glowing smile on their face whilst playing with their friends.
